Friday Five- Five Things I Love about Clif Builder’s Protein Bars

1. They don’t taste like cardboard, they are really good. My kids like to eat them over regular candy bars. I think they are the best tasting protein bar I have found.

2. They have 20g Protein which will help rebuild your muscles after your run or workout. I want to rebuild my muscle and not lose them. If you want less than 20g protein than just eat half a bar and save the other for later. I eat a whole one after my long runs.image

3. Have lots of different flavors so you can find the ones you like most. My favorites are Chocolate Peanut Butter and Vanilla Almond. There are several flavors to try , a few of the flavors are Chocolate, Chocolate Mint, Cookies’N Cream and Crunchy Peanut Butter. I’m sure you’ll find some you love.

IMG_9618 copy4. They are easy to eat when you need some energy, you can keep one in your gym bag or purse ,so if you don’t have time for lunch you can munch on one. And they are nice for an after school snack for the kids.

5. They are low glycemic and mostly organic ingredients and 13 vitamins and minerals. And No trans fats only good fats are used. The only thing that could make these better be if they had less calories. But if you use them when needed and not eat them because they taste so good, you should be fine.image

I have been wanting to try these recovery sandals for a while but wasn’t sure if they would be worth the investment. But I figure my feet are important after all it’s hard to run when they hurt.image

I often have sore feet a few days after a good run . So I decided to give them a good test after I ran in the Sea Turtle Half this past weekend. This was my second half and I ran as hard as I could, I had some big goals I really wanted to accomplish.

So after the run I could hardly wait to put on my OOFOS. I wasn’t sure how great they were going to be, but with each step I took they were more attractive. They gave instant relief to my sore feet .My feet were in love with them. So all it takes is a few steps and you’re in love.image

Later after the run I didn’t want to take off my OOFOS so we went to town had dinner and did a lot of walking and souvenir shopping. And guess what my feet were great, except a sore toe and blister but no foot pain. My feet were happy and relieved after a strenuous run.

SLS3 Dual Pocket Run Belt – Review and Giveaway

I was given this SLS3 Running Belt to review. Opinions in this post are mine. SLS3 wanted to put there Fitness belt to the test with runners. I was more than happy to test it out and give my thoughts on this fitness belt.image

The fact that it has more than one zippered pocket is amazing.  I’ll have one for my phone and one for my other necessities. No more worries about my phone falling out when I need GU.They expand enough to put my IPhone into it comfortably. They are folded and small until you fill them so if you aren’t carrying that muck they won’t be bulky.

The elastic is nice and strong and it’s adjustable so it will fit snugly with no bouncing while you run. Awesome, love it. I have had a few belts that bounce and the elastic gave out to quickly.image

The pockets are also water resistant which will lessen the worry if you carry your phone or other electronics with you. The pockets and zippers have a  water resistant coating on them. I wanted to see how well they worked so I put a paper towel into one pocket and put it under the sink to see. I did give it more water than you would receive if you ran in the rain. When I unzipped it to see the results the front of the paper towel was wet and the back was dry . So I think this belt will repel any rain storm you are willing to run in.imageimageimage

Next I put in another paper towel and sprayed it with water, which I think would be more the correct amount of water exposure for a rainy run. The towel this time was dry not even damp. So I think this will protect your phone  from rain unless you plan to run in a hurricane or something.

Runner’s World-Yoga for Runners-Review

I was given this Yoga for runners DVD set inorder to do this review, all opions are my own. I hope this will help you decide if it will work for you.

If you are a runner than you want to do all you can to help prevent injuries, to be stronger and run faster. I have been doing some yoga for quite a while now, it will really help you. You will be stronger and more flexible.

I have been using this RUNNER’S WORLD YOGA FOR RUNNERS for over a month now. It’s a two- DVD set which comes with a yoga block and strap. It isn’t a hard workout but it targets areas that runners need to strengthen. Runners are amazing people who display great dedication with their health and fitness.

If you are a runner than you may want to give this yoga set a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The sessions are led by Rebecca Pacheco, who is an international yoga teacher. She has been a runner since she was 14; she has run in the Boston marathon as well.

The yoga for runners is a 50 minute workout which was designed for your rest day. This is the main workout for this set; the other ones support this one. This workout will help you with tight areas and prepare you to get back to your running as soon as possible.

There is a beginning yoga training, which is designed to teach you the basics of yoga; if you are new to yoga this will be helpful. This is a 30 minute workout that should give you a new respect and love for yoga.

It also includes a 30 minute session for recovery which will help you with sore muscles; this is designed to do after a good run. Thank goodness its short, sometimes I only want to crash on the couch after a run.

There is also a workout for core strength it’s only a 30 minute one, it isn’t that hard but you will feel it. Your core will be worked, but in an easy 30 minutes.

Yoga is a great way to strengthen your body and help you reach your goals without worry of injuries. So you can worry about when to fit in that run in around that hectic schedule of yours.

Good-bye 2015 – Hello 2016

This year has been a good one, 2015 came with its share of ups and downs. All in all it has been a good one.

Things we accomplished in 2015

  • We ran outside for the first time all winter long no matter the weather
  • We ran our first half marathon , that is something we are very happy about
  • We also ran our first 15 K, in Kentucky
  • We were able to medal in our age group for the Fight for Air Climb
  • We completed the 1,000 miles for the year and received our 1,000 mile jacket
  • I also started this blog in order to encourage other women to never give up and to stay active
  • We ran in the Peachtree City marathon relay
  • We ran in 10 runs and the Fight for Air Climb
  • I logged 1151.02 miles in 2015 that is by far the most I have ever done in one year

This past year has been great and I’m looking forward to this coming year. I have a few things that are on my list to do this year; I hope I can accomplish them. I worry that sometimes I may push too hard, but in the end I just needed that extra push to accomplish my goals.

Things I want to do in 2016

  • I want to be the best wife, mother and Grandma (my fist Grandbaby will be arriving this year)
  • I want to run in my first marathon I would like to keep my pace around a 10 min. mile
  • I want to do my first obstacle race
  • I want to do my first Triathlon
  • I want to accomplish my 2nd 1,000 mile challenge
  • I would like to run in more races
  • I want to strength train each week
  • I want to do yoga at least once a week if not more
  • I want to try kickboxing it looks like it will be lots of fun
  • I would like to encourage more people to run and live healthier

This year already looks as if it will be very busy; I just hope I can accomplish my goals. Some are pretty big but I think they can all be accomplished with some good hard work. If we don’t set any goals, then what will we do, probably not as much as we could do if we set goals. One very important step is to have someone who understands what those goals are, and will help you and encourage you as you accomplish those goals. That’s when we start to see what we can accomplish. Ken helps me in this area; I have been able to do more since he has joined me in this journey to be fitter and healthier. If you need some encouragement or someone to help you stick to your goals, I will try and help you if you want,
