Every Wednesday, the Deb from Deb Runs will be providing a word about which to blog.

This weeks words is

 Shenanigans
silly or high-spirited behavior ; mischief

Well I hope all are having good clean fun while running and are never mischievous. We have had some fun times sense we’ve been running. When that day comes and we are too old to run, we will look back and remember some good times we’ve had together as a family. I’m so happy that we have been able to get some of our children interested in running.

During one of our runs we volunteered in, Mary and Faith sang “LET IT GO” to all the runners as they passed by.Also it was so cold that day as the runner passed by me all hot and sweaty and we were frozen ,I so wished I could run with them.12072674_10154359743643492_196307377685323670_n

During another run we volunteered to work, Mary had just started reading Game of Throne’s which was a mistake. This is what you look like when you volunteer to work as a pointer and stupidly started reading the Game of Throne’s the day before.

I love those funny signs that people hold up to encourage us , to push on to the end. These are a few my family held up for those running.10590656_10153484536293492_6250719822653090122_n

Remember to have fun with your family and friends, but always make it good clean fun. If everyone isn’t having fun than it isn’t FUN. Sorry once a mom always a mom, have fun.

What silly thing have you or your friend done to make a run fun?

Wednesdays Word- Gracious

Wednesday Word

Every Wednesday, the Deb from Deb Runs will be providing a word about which to blog.WednesdayWordScrabbleButton

This week word is Gracious.

Gracious – means courteous, kind, and pleasant: smiling and gracious in defeat

elegant and tasteful

Are you a gracious runner?
I hope you never belittle another runner. Remember we are all runners whether we are fast or slow or if we run ultra marathons or just a mile.
So what if you run faster than someone else you are both runners and winners.images

Once when I was first running I was really happy because that day I was able to run 5 miles in an hour. Which was awesome for me and I told someone about it, because I was so happy? But they didn’t respond like I thought they would have. He just said well thats not hard. It may not have been for him at over six feet tall but for me it was something. It was AMAZING !
I have to say it embarrassed me at first, than I was mad at him. But now I just feel sorry for him. Don’t EVER, EVER do that, who knows what struggles that runner had to overcome in order to reach that new PR, we need to be encouragers and celebrate others accomplishments. Think before you speak and lift others up. Didn’t your mother teach you, that you can’t make yourself look better by putting others down?ffca1cc9abb2e33024e98a02899af1ed

If you are at the receving end of this remember you aren’t running for them ,you’re running for yourself. Don’t let other people make you and your accomplishments something less than what they are, Amazing! Don’t ever give up because of what some people may say . So be gracious and forgive them and keep going one day you may just fly past him. That may not be gracious but it would be fun.f0a450e6b2690a0204cedbbc195c06bd

Are you Kind ?
Do you thank the volunteers at the runs you are in. Do you say thank you and give then a big smile?Or do you complain about there not being enough water stations or porta potties , etc. ? Remember they work hard to make this race possible.

Are you pleasant to those you meet?
Do you return a greeting to fellow runners or encourage them? Do you speed past walkers without a word or do you say Hi and proceed in caution in case a child might run in front of you or something. We all need to think of others , come on I love to run but thats not what life is about.

Do you drop your gel wrappers on the ground?
Who do you think should pick that up? I hate it when I see all those wrappers on the ground at races, if you could store it in order to use it, you can store it until you see a trash can. It’s not hard and you won’t lose any time , come on we need to be thoughtful.

Do you run with a dog? I do, my dogs love it. You should be picking up his messes don’t you think? We need to treat people and our environment with respect , would you like it if someone always left there dog’s mess in your yard? Or in the park where someones kid may step it it. We need to be responsible for our own mess.

Do you spit on the road?
Think, would you want to step into it? Did you even look first before you spit to make sure you wouldn’t hit someone with it? YUCK! If you have to spit I think it would be good to spit on the side of the road in the grass if possible, it may not even take any more time.

I want be a Gracious runner don’t you, Be kind and thoughtful of others. You’ll be happier for it and others will be happier with you.

I cant say I’m always gracious but we should try our best to be the best.

2 Peter 1:2

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Triumphant- Wednesday Word

Deb RunsTriumphant – celebrate victory, having won a battle or contest: victorious

We all want to be triumphant, but do we do what it takes to triumph?

If we want to conquer our goals, whatever they are, they could be physical, mental, or spiritual, the list could go on and on. But no matter what your difficulty is you can be the triumpher.

Say you want to run your first 5 K, what is it that will get you there?

I feel the main thing that holds us back is a lack of faith in what we can do. The battles we tend to fight are with ourselves. We tend to want to give up and say I can’t do this thing, what was I thinking when I signed up for this.

Listen we all have those feeling but we have tell ourselves to well “shut-up” and do it anyway. And guess what I bet you’ll succeed.

Once you conquer this feeling, you can and will achieve amazing things. I can do things now that I couldn’t do twenty years ago. All because I was triumphant over my negativity and traded it for a more positive attitude.

William and I after our first 5k, were we happy and surprised we finished without walking.

If someone told me ten years ago that I would be running half marathons and climbing 1,252 floors of the 191 Peachtree Towers. I would have told them they were crazy. See what some positive thinking and a lot of sweat can accomplish.

boy do you feel great after climbing to the top of 191 Peachtree Towers for the Fight For Air Climb.

So what do you want to triumph over ?

What is your biggest triumph?
